Information For Clinicians
Not every patient fits neatly into IOP or outpatient therapy.
Some need more than once-weekly sessions, but aren’t appropriate for intensive daily programming.
The EMbody Recovery Program offers a structured, three-month step-down alternative that integrates EMDR and yoga therapy in a private, individualized format.
Program Structure
EMDR + Yoga Therapy
Three-month program
The program is flexible, with online, hybrid, and in-person options.
Once admitted, clients have up to 14 weeks to finish the program.
Step-down alternative
The program is more structured than weekly outpatient, but less intensive than IOP.
Clients can attend school and go to work while in the program.
One-on-one
The entire program is individualized and private, integrating of yoga therapy and EMDR.
Perfect for those uncomfortable in group settings.
Skills-based
EMDR and yoga therapy offers practical tools for nervous system regulation and ongoing recovery.
Clients learn skills they use on their own to support trauma recovery.
Why Refer to EMbody:
- Ideal referral option for IOP patients: Designed for individuals who require structured trauma care but no longer need IOP.
- IOP alternative for reluctant patients: Ideal for individuals who have already been to IOP and are looking for another option.
- Individualized structure: One-on-one format avoids group triggers while maintaining consistency and accountability.
- Evidence-based integration: Combines EMDR and yoga therapy for root-cause trauma work and nervous system regulation.
Referral Criteria
Ideal referrals include individuals who:
Have completed one or more IOPs and are stepping down but still require consistent structure and support.
Are motivated to engage in trauma-focused healing but not ready or qualified for group or IOP.
Are seeking trauma-focused work but are unable to tolerate group treatment environments.
Are in early recovery (eating disorders, trauma, substance use, addictions) with at least 6 months since first recovery attempt.
Are unable to fully function at work, school, or in relationships.
Are on PTSD disability or “stuck” without being in acute crisis.
Are residents of Connecticut.
The EMbody Trauma Recovery Program is not clinically appropriate for individuals with:
- Diagnosis of Schizophrenia, unmanaged Dissociative Identity Disorder, or unmanaged Bipolar Disorder
- Suicide attempt within the last 12 months
- Medically critical advanced stages of eating disorders
- Less than 6 months since beginning addiction recovery for the first time
By referring to EMbody, you offer your clients a safe, structured step-down option. EMbody offers an effective bridge when IOP isn’t acceptable but weekly therapy is insufficient. This supports long-term recovery outcomes and ensures your patients receive care that matches their clinical needs.
About the EMbody Trauma Recovery Program
The EMbody Trauma Recovery Program is a three-month, trauma-focused outpatient program designed for individuals who do not currently meet IOP criteria, but continue to need structured, individualized care.
It is also appropriate for patients preparing to discharge from IOP or for those whose symptom severity exceeds what can be managed in weekly outpatient therapy.
The program serves individuals avoiding group work and unwilling to revisit trauma in a group-focused IOP.
The program integrates EMDR therapy and yoga therapy to address both the psychological and somatic components of trauma.
It provides a consistent therapeutic structure while maintaining flexibility for individual pacing.
